Cameron Downey is participating in the 7 artist HAIRandNAILS group show at 9 Herkimer Place in Brooklyn, NY, opening May 5th thru June 16th.
A sophomore at Columbia University, pursuing Visual Arts and Environmental Science, Cameron Downey is an antidisciplinary artist instigating the nuances of familial/shared histories through the mediums of textiles, sculptures, photographs and film. Raised in North Minneapolis, Cameron looks to explore the visual architecture that girdles the past and the spacial into future. She finds inspiration in the ways in which black folks create technologies of being, forging work that imagines the contexts in which these technologies unfurl.
