Kim Benson

Kim Benson
Rose(Vanitas) 2019, oil on canvas, 40″ x 32″
Kim Benson is one of 7 artists showing work as part of the HAIRandNAILS group show at 9 Herkimer Place in Brooklyn, NY, opening May 5th thru June 16th.
Kim Benson’s work always blows us away. Often based on Dutch still life paintings of flowers or skulls(vanitas) she works and works these surface until the subject recedes into complex abstract composition. But something often remains of the representational, lingering almost on the edge of vision, elusive and holding tight to it’s sense of mystery.
At the end of 2018 she exhibited in our gallery as part of Relief: Three Fresh Approaches to Building Surface with Rachel Collier and Sheila Wagner. Fall of 2020 will bring her first solo show to HAIRandNAILS and we couldn’t be more excited. More on that later!
