HAIR+NAILS NADA Miami 2021 Booth 5.01: Manal Kara
HAIRandNAILS is pleased to present a solo exhibition of work by Gary, IN based poet/visual artist Manal Kara including a collection of their wall-mounted Portals, made of ceramic and photographic prints on fabric, stacked and stitched together. They are visual and text-based poems, field notes, observations from deep listening during walks, drives and travel in general. There are also text-based paintings, and several small sculptures.
Manal Kara is a Moroccan-American self-taught interdisciplinary artist. Their work has been exhibited across the United States as well as in Istanbul, Vienna, Melbourne, and Berlin. Recent solo exhibitions include Xylem & Phlöem at No Place Gallery in Columbus, OH, The Viewing-Room Vs. The Adoring-Gaze at Interstate Projects in Brooklyn, NY, Song of the Other Worm at Prairie in Chicago IL and Terassin’ Like a Slug Outta Heaven at Basketshop in Cincinnati, OH. Recent group shows include K as in knight at Helena Anrather in NYC, RIGHT NOW at HAIRandNAILS in Minneapolis, and The Human Scale at Rochester Art Center in Rochester, MN. They have attended residencies at ACRE, Ox-Bow, September Spring at the Kesey Farm, and Project Freewill. Upcoming solo exhibitions include Shulamit Nazarian, LA and HAIRandNAILS, MPLS.
